Figured you all would appreciate this: [31 Dec 2005|12:29pm]

A, C, an E-flat, and a G go into a bar. The bartender says: "Sorry,
but we don't serve minors." So the E-flat leaves, and the C and the G
have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is
diminished and the G is out flat. An F comes in and tries to augment
the situation, but is not sharp enough.

A D comes into the bar and heads straight for the bathroom saying,
"Excuse me. I'll just be a second." Then an A comes into the bar, but
the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor.

Then the bartender notices a B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and
exclaims, "Get out now. You're the seventh minor I've found in this bar
tonight."

The E-flat, not easily deflated, comes back to the bar the next
nightin a 3-piece suit with nicely shined shoes. The bartender (who
used to have a nice corporate job until his company downsized) says,
"You're looking sharp tonight, come on in! This could be a major
development."

This proves to be the case, as the E-flat takes off the suit, and
everything else, and stands there au natural.

Eventually, the C sobers up, and realizes in horror that he's under a
rest. The C is brought to trial, is found guilty of contributing to
the diminution of a minor, and is sentenced to 10 years of DS without
Coda at an upscale correctional facility. On appeal, however, the C is
found innocent of any wrongdoing, even accidental, and that all
accusations to the contrary are bassless.
The bartender decides, however, that since he's only had tenor so
patrons, with the soprano out in the bathroom, and everything has
become alto much treble, he needs a rest, and closes the bar

yay!!!!!!!!!!!! i am incredibly happy right now we jsut got back our results for drum major and i made assistant :):):):):):):):) it was kind of weird though because a freshmen made drum major, a hyper active freshmen at that,i sort of feel bad for the kid everyone was complaining that eh made it, but he had perfect form so it should be ok, hopefully the responsibility will help him grow up a little bit, or his energy will sort of help keep freshmen in line, anyways anyone have any assistant drum major advice

New mods [01 May 2005|07:51pm]

Okay....I procrastinated on this, but I finally did it! I added some very lax rules. Also, I would like to welcome heardtheworld, allthatjazz7889, and insane_clarinet to the mod team. All of them applied, and I didn't see a reason to just choose one.

1 month and 9 days until move in for drum corps! Can't wait :-)

Ok this is going to sound rather wierd to some people...but does anyone else do a stage show? This year our drumline did an indoor show called "Between the Walls" that was basically a conglomeration of random stuff created to help them get to world championships in Dayton (we put it on right after marching season was over...I did lights), and starting last year the symphonic band memorizes one well-known song and puts it on the stage (movement, costumes, fog, funky lighting, the works) for our Pops Concert (nothing like pop music...more like musical music. Last year was LotR and this year is starwars).

So yeah. I'm a little curious if anyone else does that...(damn I still have music to memorize...and I'm too sick to play...DAMNIT!)

It's quite ammusing. Random forum 'bout all things marching, plus a little side conversation about concert season. My username is HornFlash06, if you care to look me up. It's interesting...that and you get to learn the habits of other state's marchingtypes. Oh yes, quite fun...

I'm going to be gone this whole summer beginning May 27th-August 13th. I will be marching with Magic in DCI playing the mellophone (very excited!). With this comes the need for someone to take on the reigns of managing this place over the summer. Managing this community is very simple. I've never had to delete or edit posts. All I ask is for you to remove members who delete their journals. If for some reason you should find a post that brings for flame wars (hasn't happened yet), please remove it. You will be able to keep your position after I come back. Just make sure all posts follow the rules (which I'm going to the user info right after I post this to add).

No experience necessary, but it would be very helpful if I knew you well through the TFBC forums (vets especially).

To contact me:
Email - cordefrancais@yahoo.com
AIM - kissmybrass88
MSN - iluvcocoa@hotmail.com
...or just post a comment here leaving your own contact info (contacting me is preferred).

Thanks! :-)

AUGH! [25 Feb 2005|10:19pm]

Ok, so far they have switched conductors from our kind, loving, sarcastic band director to our ditzy, uninformed, rookie choir director. They have unofficially extended practice an hour. Oh, and said choir director fired our lead bone because she "had a bad attitude." Namely because she kept saying that we had no second ending in one song (because we don't) and said choir director didn't like that. She thinks that the measure directly after the repeat counts as a second ending...I dissagree, because alternate endings mean that some part of the first ending is cut out. Which means that following the score and then moving past the repeat sign does not constitute as an alternate ending, a second ending, or anything more than ending the repeat.

So now we're short one bone player. And I sorta started playing less than a year ago (and am, coincidentally, having issues with the second book) so I suck to bad to play first book.

Creeeeepy...

EDIT: I am reffering to our musical, btw...

Metronome Online! [25 Feb 2005|11:51pm]

primadonna87
OK, now this could be cool to me just because I am super bandgeek for life and all, but my band director told us today about metronomeonline.com where they have an ONLINE METRONOME that you can use on your computer for free, which is awesome for practicing at home and super easy to use. I tried it out earlier and it totally rocks! Anyways, just had to tell ya about it. Please excuse my brief moment of metronome insanity, Dr. Beat has corrupted me...

Pit Orchestra started today...or atleast practice with the cast did. South Pacific...which, for those of you who have not seen it, is not nearly as funny as the cast likes to think. Silly cast...

^_^

Just checking in, or something like that. If anyone else is in pit orchestra, they should share stories. This is (unfortunately) my first year so all I know is hearsay...
